n["aïrmountains"][1]="The Aïr Mountains are a remote and exotic area south of the Ténéré Desert. The area is home to the Tuareg people. The mountains include one of Western Africa's most spectacular sights, the Aïr Massif, with its strange, sharp, black peaks. Treks through the mountains can be arranged in Arlit, although most camel treks start from the town of Iferouâne, which is closer to the area.|Camel treks through the Aïr Mountains are quite expensive, as you need to hire a guide, camels and equipment. It is cheaper to go with a group. You should bring something soft to sit on, as camel saddles are very uncomfortable unless you are used to them.|There are several places that can be visited during a camel trek. They include the hot thermal springs at Tafadek, the green oases of Tîmia and Iferouâne, the beautiful waterfalls near the town of Tîmia and, if you have more time (and money) you can go as far as Temet to see the dunes or the Ténéré Desert, which will take about three weeks there and back. It is also possible to rent a vehicle instead of camels.|There are frequent Tuareg uprisings in the area, so it is not always possible to make treks. Niger's highest peak, 1,944 m Mount Gréboun is 1005 km northeast of Niamey on the edge of the Aïr Mountains and the Ténéré Desert.";
